Los Amigos football coach Romel Guess is back with the Lobos.

The fifth-year coach said Tuesday that he is “feeling better” after suffering a ruptured intestine that required emergency surgery.

Guess said he returned to coaching last week in a limited capacity.

“(I’m) gradually increasing my time out there each week,” he said.

Last season, Guess guided Los Amigos to an 11-0 start — the best in school history — and the CIF-SS Division 11 quarterfinals. The Lobos won the Sigma League title and finished 11-1.

Los Amigos opens the season against Garden Grove on Aug. 22 at Bolsa Grade High.
