Position:  AUDITORY-ORAL PRINCIPAL FOR HEARING IMPAIRED

Qualifications Applicant must have a Master Degree or advanced training in oral-deaf education, a valid elementary teaching credential, experience in the early intervention level through elementary grades. The ability to facilitate decision-making with groups of diverse interest and values. Demonstrates skill in working with families and to create positive staff morale.

Responsibilities:  Reports to an Executive Director and Board of Trustees.  Establishes and maintains an appropriate school climate for achieving student goals and objectives through curriculum implementation.  This candidate is also responsible for carrying out our school policies, procedures and programs plus keeps the primary focus of speech and verbal language development through quality auditory-oral methodology in order for students to achieve state-mandated guidelines for learning. Directs, supervises, observes and evaluates the performance of staff members providing systematic coaching and accountability evaluations. Cultivates and maintains relationships with all stakeholders including parents, staff, board of trustees and participation service providers.  Attends and/or approves IEP (Individual Education Plans) and IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) for all students.

Program Description:    An auditory-oral day school for infants and hearing impaired children ages 0-11 years.  Emphasis is placed on the maximum development and use of auditory skills and spoken language utilizing conventional amplification such as hearing aids and cochlear implants.  Oralingua offers a learning environment rich in language and hands-on experiences.  Our curriculum focuses on listening, verbal language, speech, cognitive thinking, academics and social interaction.  We offer individualized programming, small classes, related services and after-school therapy.  Programming includes parent-infant therapy, toddler and preschool classes, instruction from kindergarten through primary grades, speech, aural habilitation, occupational therapy, parent education and counseling, and audiological services.

Position:  TEACHER OF THE DEAF (Special Education)

Credentials:  Professional Clear Level I or II Education Specialists Instruction DHH Credential or enrollment in a program culminating in an Education Specialist Credential: Deaf & Hard of Hearing & Master's Degree in Special Education.  If candidate is working toward a DHH credential and enrolled in a certified credentialing program, employment will be based on a Provisional Internship Permit (PIP).

Responsibilities:  Provide instruction and related services to individuals with the primary disability of deafness and hearing impairments from birth through grade 4.

Work Year:  10-MONTH SCHOOL YEAR WITH 1-MONTH ESY (Extended School Year)
